Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration or DevOps, along with proficiency in multiple scripting languages and experience with cloud hosted systems. This role involves managing and maintaining Linux/Unix environments, implementing configuration management tools, automating tasks using scripting languages, deploying applications in cloud hosted systems (preferably Azure), and utilizing Kubernetes for efficient scaling and resource allocation. Additionally, the DevOps Engineer will be responsible for maintenance and support of the team’s services as well as implementing new initiatives for cross services and infrastructure improvements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain stability, security, and performance of Linux/Unix environments, including Windows systems when necessary.
  • Implement and maintain configuration management tools such as ADO and Github to automate software deployment and configuration processes.
  • Develop scripts using multiple scripting languages (e.g., bash, awk, sed, Python) on the Linux platform to automate tasks and enhance system efficiency.
  • Design, deploy, and manage infrastructure and applications in cloud hosted systems (with a preference for Azure) to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes for efficient application scaling and resource allocation.
  • Take ownership of maintenance and support for the team’s services, ensuring their stability, availability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to implement new initiatives that improve the efficiency and reliability of services and infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration or DevOps .
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields .
  • Experience working with DevOps for global professional services firms.
  • Strong expertise in Linux/Unix environment/System administration (including Windows).
  • Proficiency with configuration management tools such as ADO and Github.
  • Experience with multiple scripting languages on the Linux platform (e.g.,bash, awk,sed, and Python).
  • Knowledge of cloud hosted systems (preferably Azure) for infrastructure deployment.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes for application deployment scaling.
  • Understanding of transport security protocols like ssh certificates.
  • Working knowledge of Docker containers for application deployment.
  • Experience with relational databases as well as NoSQL data stores.
  • DataDog: Proficiency in using DataDog for monitoring, logging, and alerting purposes.
  • Kubernetes: Experience in deploying and managing containerized applications using Kubernetes 
  • Terraform: Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management as code practices .
  • Azure: Knowledge of Azure cloud services for building scalable and resilient solutions including compute instances, storage resources, networking components, etc.
  • Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to automate software builds, testing, deployments,and other development workflows effectively.
  • Azure DevOps: Proficiency in utilizing Azure DevOps for end to end application lifecycle management.
  • Desired skills
  • Proven abilities in administering Linux OS, including network and software application configuration.
  • Configuring continuous integration within a development environment using tools such as Jenkins, Puppet, Chef, Git and Nexus.
  • Automating repetitive development, operations, and deployment tasks.
  • Documenting systems and networks, refining requirements, self identifying solutions, and effectively communicating them to the team.
  • Managing databases, including database design, creation, manipulation, and query.
  • Utilizing enterprise tools (such as BPM or ESB tools) for orchestration of services and workflows, as well as messaging queues (e.g. RabbitMQ).

Time Zone: EST
Working Hours: 8am to 5pm
